Welcome

It's as if they thought my mother was coming!

Massif Central

Came here over some big Volcano's today. Lovely place, highish in the mountains. Started to rain hard just after we'd unpacked, but the pool was looking too good to say no to.

Olympic Ceremony

That was pretty cool. Parachuting Queen, NHS in their swansong, Jethro Tull playing Christmas music, Irish choir singing 'Danny Boyle' (maybe), Mr Bean playing Chariots Of Fire. Brilliant.

Last night here

Finishing up some food, looking a bit brown.

Nightime visitor

We've been told Buster lived off his wits.  Well he spent all night snapping at flies, but completely failed to spot this chap.

Back in Lac

Tried going to Alleriot today for some river swimming, but it was a bit odd - 2 lovely places to eat, with a car-park between them and the water.  Lots of fishermen on the banks, but no real swimming places, lots of reeds.  We had a picnic, and then headed back to the Lac we'd been to 2 days ago.  This time J decided that a swimming costume was optional...

7 in the evening

And it's starting to cool down

In the shade

Lac De Laives

Went to Lac De Laives yesterday, as recommended by our neighbours.  Lovely place, lots of lake swimming, and we hired a pedalo with a slide - and I tried (unsuccessfully) to tow the kids fast along the lake.  Managed a slow trundle instead.  Fantastic place though, dogs unwelcome on the beach but fine if we hid away in the trees.  J did a couple of excellent drawings of the lake.

Pool day

Not done much today, except play by the pool.

New Thursday night steed?

New age festival thingy in Chalon. Lots of people with a bit of blood in their Stella-stream. Great feel to the place - wish J and I were here w/o kids... A bit. :)

Ted now's not the time

Continental Divide

We crossed the continental divide in France today, the rain that was falling to our right will end up in the North Sea, and the rain falling to our left will go to the Med. The idea of such a line has fascinated me since I was a kid, and I was bizarrely excited to cross this one today. Needless to say my excitement wasn't matched by any of my fellow travellers, even after a detailed explanation. Philistines.

Watch out !!!

Mother's lost the plot

The stress must be getting to her already...

Forgotten how to dress?

Apparently we're all so boring that he has to isolate himself from the rest of the car...

Owners might be a little over-patriotic

Really sticking it to the French with two big bags of flags.

Just a bit of French marketing.

Not a good idea advertising your shop as "naf"...

Week 2

Fantastic place. Miles from anywhere. Saltwater pool, so no chlorine. Bracing. Beautiful house inside.

Knee injury

It has come to my attention that some think the recent knee injury picture was my own, however it was Mum's; note the nail varnish ;) again - down to an uneven floor, not alcohol ;)

Goodbye Strasbourg

It was good, but it's time to leave. About 1/2 way to the next place right now, some huge mountains to our right, and we've been through 2 amazing rainstorms, so bad even the French cars pulled off the road during them. The German ones kept on going...
